Michael Morrell received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1998. He teaches a range of political theory courses, including American Political Thought, Modern Political Theory, and Democratic Theory. His main research interests include the effects of direct democratic participation on citizens, the role of efficacy in democracy and public opinion, and the connections between empathy and democracy.
